The Digital Solution Engineering Graduate Program provides you with a unique opportunity to start and grow your career at a leading technology company. The Solutions Engineering (Presales) role is the perfect mix of business and technology, helping customers to understand how they can use technology innovation to transform their IT landscape and achieve their business goals.  

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?  

The first year of the Academy Graduate Program you will be mostly discovering your role, our technology and learning through doing. At VMware we invest heavily in training Solutions Engineering graduates. While a good grounding in the fundamentals of technology is important, in the VMware Academy we value attitude, aptitude and a hunger to learn over technical knowledge or experience. 

In a multi-disciplinary Academy program, you will meet and collaborate with colleagues with a diverse array of skills, experiences and backgrounds to build a well-rounded view of what makes VMware a market leading organization. In this Solution Engineering track of the Academy, we will focus on developing the future stars of our world-renowned pre-sales organization.

Academy Structure: 

The Academy program is structured to run over 24 – 36 months, starting with 6 weeks of foundational training. This training will introduce you to VMware and its technologies, after which you will continue your in-role training as part of the solutions engineering team. 

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?  

 As you progress onwards from Academy and become an Associate Solution Engineer (SE) you will be executing the following tasks:

• Talking to customers, introducing them to new technology concepts and ideas that can enhance their business strategy. 
• Presenting and demonstrating transformative VMware technologies that can make their strategic vision a reality. 
• Designing the right technology solutions to meet customers' biggest business challenges, taking advantage of a rich portfolio of VMware products and services. 
• Collaborating with and learning from mentors and subject matter experts on an ongoing basis. 
• Focusing on problem solving and successful customer outcomes. 
• Through close collaboration with sales, professional services, and many other teams, a Solutions Engineer builds long term customer relationships, ensuring the customer meets their business challenges through adoption of VMware solutions.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? 

The Digital Solution Engineering Team is diverse and dynamic, with a great mix of former SE graduates and some senior industry Solution Engineers too. As a team we are constantly evolving and growing, and we believe that each one of us brings our own uniqueness and innovation to the table.  

Teamwork is necessary from our leadership to our most junior team members, we are expected to help each other every day to achieve our own and mutual goals, doing our best to be better and more efficient in everything we do. 

The management team have more than 10 years of experience in Solution Engineering, Technical Sales, Management of early talent and building successful and highly motivated teams. 

Where is this role located?  

This role is based out of VMware’s state-of-the-art Digital Sales Centre in Barcelona which is home to a vibrant, diverse, and talented team of young professionals from across Europe. The role is open to candidates in Europe that fluently speaks not only English but French.
